Seeking Financial Freedom: 10 Things You Need to Know About the Great Wealth Transfer

Seeking Financial Freedom: 10 Things You Need to Know About the Great Wealth Transfer

The money is moving… already.

While most people are distracted by the daily news cycle or checking one more thing off an endless to-do list, something extraordinary is happening.

A mountain of wealth is changing hands.

We’re talking $105 trillion. That’s twelve zeros. 000,000,000,000.

No one alive has ever seen anything like this before, because there has never been anything like it. It is the largest transfer of wealth in human history.

Here’s the part that should have every woman paying attention: a remarkable share of that wealth is expected to end up in the hands of women.

You. Your friends. Your sisters. Your daughters.

If you’ve been waiting for a sign that the world is changing, this is it.

For thousands of years, women were largely excluded from financial power. We couldn’t own property, open bank accounts, get credit in our own names, or build wealth independently. That’s not ancient history. It’s fifty years ago (in America, nearly 52, to be exact). Today, we stand at the beginning of an historic shift.

Wealth, however, doesn’t automatically create freedom.

You can inherit money and still be afraid to make decisions. You can build a successful business and still believe someone else knows better. You can have resources and still hand your power to someone else.

Money doesn’t change who you are.

It magnifies who you already believe yourself to be.

That’s why preparation matters.

You have to be ready to receive wealth. You have to know how to hold it, grow it, and use it wisely.

Most women were never taught that.

Here are the 10 things you should know about the $105 trillion wealth transfer if you’re ready to stop spinning your wheels and start creating true financial sovereignty.

1. The Numbers Are Staggering

Starting this year, by 2040, an estimated $105 trillion will flow from older generations to their beneficiaries. This isn’t simply another financial trend. It is the greatest transfer of wealth in history. To put that into perspective, it’s over three times the annual GDP of the US.

The question isn’t whether this wealth transfer will happen.

The question is whether you’ll be ready when opportunity arrives in your own life.

2. Women Are the Primary Beneficiaries

This isn’t simply a generational shift.

It’s also a shift in financial leadership.

Mostly because women generally outlive men, an enormous amount of wealth will first pass to widows. Trillions more will move to daughters and granddaughters. Within the next decade, women are expected, for the first time ever, to control the majority of America’s private wealth.

Think about that for a moment.

For centuries, women were treated as property.

Now we are increasingly becoming the owners of property – investable assets of all kinds.

It’s unprecedented and it will affect you even if you don’t inherit.

3. Your Biggest Challenge May Not Be Money

You can inherit all the money in the world, and still lose it.

Why?

Because money doesn’t erase old beliefs.

Most of us inherited far more than family heirlooms. We inherited stories about money, power, sacrifice, and what it means to be a “good woman.” We learned to be agreeable. To take care of everyone else first. To avoid talking about money. To let someone else make the big financial decisions.

Those beliefs don’t disappear when your bank account changes. They simply get more expensive.

If you’re going to build lasting wealth, you have to rewrite the stories you’ve been carrying about money, success, and your own worth.

4. Busy Is Not the Same as Wealthy

I meet women all the time who are busy from the minute they wake up until they fall into bed at night.

They’re running businesses, managing households, answering emails, solving everyone else’s problems, and somehow wondering why they still feel like they’re running in place.

That’s the Hamster Wheel. I’ve lived on it myself.

Early in my career, I thought working harder created security. Then the software industry I was in collapsed. I rebuilt in real estate. Years later, that industry collapsed, too. Standing there looking at yet another fresh start, I made myself a promise: I would never again let a single source of income determine my future.

That decision changed the trajectory of my financial life.

Wealth isn’t built by doing more. It’s built by thinking differently, making better decisions, creating assets, and allowing your money to begin working alongside you instead of depending entirely on your time.

There’s nothing noble about exhaustion.

There’s something incredibly powerful about having choices.

5. No One Was Supposed to Teach You This

One of the saddest things I hear from women is, “I should already know this.”

No, you shouldn’t.

Most of us were taught how to earn money. Very few of us were taught how to build wealth. There’s a difference.

For generations, women weren’t expected to understand investing, estate planning, ownership, or financial strategy because someone else was expected to handle those decisions. We inherited that absence of education right along with everything else.

The good news is that this isn’t a character flaw; it’s an education gap.

Education gaps can be closed.

Read the documents. Ask the questions. Understand where your assets are. Learn how money works instead of assuming someone else knows better.

You don’t need to become a financial expert overnight. You do need to become the CEO of your own financial life.

6. Your Wealth Identity Matters

One of the greatest misconceptions about money is that it’s purely mathematical.

Money is deeply personal. It reflects our choices, our priorities, our fears, and our confidence. I’ve watched women earn seven, even eight, figures and still feel like they’re one mistake away from losing everything. I’ve also watched women with modest means make calm, confident decisions that steadily built extraordinary wealth over time.

The difference wasn’t intelligence. It was identity. Your money is just a mirror.

If you still see yourself as someone who’s “just getting by,” your financial decisions will reflect that story, no matter how much money comes your way. If, on the other hand, you begin to see yourself as the steward of wealth instead of simply the earner of income, everything changes.

This is what I call the New Energy of Money. It’s not about wishing, hoping, or manifesting a bigger bank account. It’s about becoming the woman who naturally knows how to create wealth, protect it, and allow it to grow.

7. Confidence Doesn’t Come First

One statistic that continues to make me so sad is that the overwhelming majority of women say they don’t feel prepared to manage a significant inheritance or financial windfall.

Of course they don’t. We haven’t been invited into many of those conversations.

If you don’t know where the assets are, if you’ve never seen the estate plan, if you’ve never asked how the investments work, if your advisor always talked to your husband, confidence isn’t going to appear one morning while you’re drinking your coffee.

Confidence comes from participation: Ask the questions, read the documents, understand the plan. Make it your business.

Every conversation you have, every book you read, every financial decision you make builds another layer of confidence. That’s how expertise is created. One decision at a time.

8. Wealth Is About More Than Money

Money is wonderful, but it’s just a tool. Freedom is way cooler. The real gift of wealth isn’t a bigger house or a nicer vacation. It’s choice.

It’s the freedom to leave a relationship that no longer serves you, or to start the business you’ve been dreaming about. To support your children without sacrificing your retirement, or to fund the causes that matter to you. To help another woman get her business off the ground because you remember what it felt like when someone believed in you.

When women have resources, we tend to think beyond ourselves.

We invest in our families.

We invest in our communities.

We invest in the world.

That’s one of the reasons this wealth transfer matters so much.

9. Build a Team That Wants You to Win

You were never meant to figure all of this out alone.

The smartest people I know have accountants, attorneys, financial professionals, coaches, mentors, and trusted advisors. Not because they aren’t capable, but because they understand the value of great counsel.

Choose those people carefully. Make sure they educate you instead of intimidate you. You can tell — do they answer your questions without making you feel foolish for asking them? Choose team members who want you to become more confident, not more dependent.

Your advisor should never make you feel small or talk down to you. The right team helps you become more powerful with every conversation.

10. The Time to Prepare Is Now

You don’t wait until you’re handed the keys to a Ferrari to learn how to drive. You don’t wait until you inherit a business to understand how businesses work. So don’t wait until wealth arrives before deciding the kind of woman you want to become.

That work starts now. This is where Wealth Navigation comes in.

Every woman has an internal map around money. Most of us didn’t draw it consciously. It was handed to us by family, culture, and experience. If you want a different financial future, it starts by creating a different map. Some of those beliefs came from your parents. Some from your culture. Some from experiences that convinced you to play smaller than you were ever meant to.

It’s time to navigate over into new territory.

Because the woman who knows how to steward great wealth is built long before the money arrives.

The Secret Path to Financial Sovereignty

Most conversations about this $105 trillion wealth transfer focus on the money.

I think they’re asking the wrong question.

The real question isn’t, “How much money will women inherit?” It’s, Who will we become as we step into this level of financial leadership?

For centuries, women have been underpaid, underserved, underrepresented, and excluded from many of the financial decisions that shaped families, businesses, and communities. Today we have an opportunity to write a different story.

Not simply by inheriting wealth. By creating it, growing it, keeping it, and using it wisely for the greater good.

That’s financial sovereignty.

If you’re ready to step off the Hamster Wheel, leave behind rules that were never designed for you, and become the woman who knows how to build lasting wealth, I’d love to help.

I’ve created The Velvet Hammer Experience for women who are ready to think differently about money, power, and possibility. It’s where we clear away old stories, strengthen your wealth identity, and build the confidence to lead your financial life with clarity and purpose.

Because this moment isn’t simply about a transfer of wealth.

It’s about a transfer of power.

The question is…

What are you going to do with yours?

Love,
Halle
